Flight of the Penguins

The article I chose was Flight of the Penguins, How Do You Airlift Thousands of Stranded Birds, by Nina Shen Rastogi.  This article was about hundreds of penguins that were airlifted last week in Brazil.  They were washed up on the northern shore of Brazil, and had be relocated to the southern most part of Brazil into the South Atlantic Ocean.  Scientists are still trying to understand how the penguins were found washed up in the northern part.  

These birds were transported on a C-130 Hercules transport plane that was loaned to the Brazilian government's environmental authority by the airforce.  The penguins were placed in crates and accompanied by veterinarians and biologists.  They made a stop at a rehabilitation center in Pelotas for food and water.  After an overnight stay, the penguins were driven in trucks to the beach and released in the ocean.  Some were held back for medical reasons and treatment.  This was the largest penguin airlift in Brazilian history.

The voice of the aricle was in between casual and scholarly.  It was easy to comprehend and follow.  The tone was informational and provided facts about the event.  The targeted audience was for more of an older audience.  People who care about the environment would find this article interesting or informational.
