Pratim te by Tose Proeski

Pratim te is a song by Tose Proeski and also a title of his fifth album that came out in 2005. When you ask me to tell you why this is art I don’t know where to begin. Tose Proeski was one of the best male singers and performers of all time in my opinion. He is also an icon, a legend that will live forever. Pratim te is one of the most successful Balkan albums ever, released throughout the countries of ex-Yugoslavia.  The song is of a popish rock tune and it starts out with a piano intro. The melody of the song is great and very recognizable, original; accompanied with great lyrics and the unbelievable vocal performance of Tose. This is the time he rose to superstardom. Not many male vocalists can sing as high as he did and with that kind of a technique. Pratim te song and the whole album was released in two languages, Serbo-Croatian and Macedonian.  Tose Proeski was a Macedonian singer who started his career at a young age in his home country but his talent led him to expand in other countries as well such as Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Bulgaria.  Some of his early songs were never rerecorded in other languages and they still became really popular in those other countries. Proeski is not only remembered by his music but with his humanitarian work; he became the UNIICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2004. Proeski is probably the only performer who succeeded in being popular in all of the ex-Yugoslav republics that were torn apart by war after the wars. Tose Proeski also recorded a couple of songs in English and Italian. He represented Macedonia at the Eurovision song contest with the song Life is in 2004. Proeski recorded the song Aria with a known Italian singer Gianna Nannini. In 2007, Tose signed a contract in London with an English label to start his worldwide career. Pratim te is probably his most successful album to date and it opened it up with the same titled song. BBC News called him “Elvis Presley of the Balkans”. Tose Proeski died in a car accident on October 16^th, 2007 in Croatia; he was 26.
