My Article was whats in a number, which was about how the press uses the number 1,500 miles to say that is the general distance that food has to travel in order for it to get to where it needs to go. This is the distance that one person estimated when he was trying to find out how far food generally traveled to get to where it needed to go.
The Auther of the article was Jane Black.
The tone of the article was that it was trying to inform you of the fact that food may travel a variety of distances an that it is only a myth that all food will travel 1,500 miles. But the fact is this myth is widely spread by the press.
I believe that the intended audience of the piece was the general public and it was trying to inform them that it was inaccurate. It was also meant to be aimed at those that believe that local food is the best food for people to buy and that the farther it travels the worse off it will be for the people that consume the food. The people who would find this article interesting would have to be environmentalists, people who care where their food was grown, and if it was grown organically. Also those people who work in restaurants so that they can make more educated choices about what they are going to serve to those who eat their food.
